Tanzu StockPay
Stock now, pay later. Tanzu pays your supplier for your stock order as soon as they confirm delivery with your code, and you pay Tanzu back in short-term instalments by M-Pesa.
How it works

Step 1
Order your stock
Agree your order with your supplier as you do today. Then put it on StockPay, within your credit limit, and you get a code for that order.

Your supplier confirms delivery
When the stock arrives, give your supplier the code. They see the amount and confirm the delivery with your code. No code, no payment.

Tanzu pays, you pay back
Tanzu pays your supplier as soon as the delivery is confirmed. You pay Tanzu back in short-term instalments by M-Pesa.
For shop owners
- One credit limit for every StockPay supplier in your area, so you can buy from whoever has the best stock.
- Your account on your phone: your orders, your credit limit, what you have used and your balance.
- Each order’s fee and due date are shown before you confirm it.
- Pay by M-Pesa from your account, whenever suits you before the due date.
For suppliers
- Get paid by Tanzu as soon as you confirm a delivery with the shop’s code, instead of waiting for the shop to pay.
- You see the amount before you confirm. If it is wrong, you simply do not enter the code.
- Your team signs in to see the orders waiting for them and what has been paid, branch by branch.
- Payments go to your business’s registered account.
Questions
What do I need to start?
A shop, your national ID and your phone number. Talk to Tanzu support or ask your supplier: our team registers your shop and sets your credit limit, and you get a text telling you how to sign in.
How do I pay Tanzu back?
Sign in, enter an amount and approve the M-Pesa prompt on your phone. You type your M-Pesa PIN on your own phone only: Tanzu never asks for it. You can also pay by paybill; your account shows the details.
How long do I have to pay?
StockPay is short-term. Each order shows its due date before you confirm it, and your account reminds you what is due next.
When is my supplier paid?
As soon as they confirm the delivery with your code. Most payments go out within minutes; now and then Tanzu’s team checks one first.
What if I lose a code?
Get a new code for the order from your account, or call Tanzu support. A code only works for the supplier you named on the order, so a lost code cannot be used somewhere else.
What if the amount is wrong?
Your supplier sees the amount before confirming. If it is wrong they do not enter the code; you agree the right amount between you and put a new order on StockPay.
